21-11-23 Day 2 Treatment
Well good evening everyone , and can I first say a Big Thank You to those of you who read Yesterdays Blog and Commented , much appreciated .
Todays Blog wont be as long , simply because everything went smoothly which was nice .
Just after 1 pm I received a phone call from a Taxi saying he was on his way to collect me and take me to Christies , good news ,Thomas can relax now , off we go and an uneventful Drive to Christies , dropped off and managed to Navigate myself to Department 39 , Suite 4 , my treatment location for the next 6 weeks , check in with Naomi at the Reception desk and go to sit in the the waiting room .
After about 20 minutes I am called into the Treatment room , and its the same team as yesterday , Team Leader Lydia , trainee Whitney , Colleen and Hannah are the names I have got so far there a couple of others and 1 Achilles , I think we are getting a bit of a Bond already and they are all lovely people. I didnt give much information out yesterday about the room because there was lots of other stuff to get through . Its a big room and some of the team sit at a Control Desk outside the Treatment room and then you go into where the Big Machine is , Lydia enquires how I am after yesterdays problems and I say all is well .
Then its shirt off time and I am positioned very Precisely on the Big Machine table using my new Tattoo as a Marker , a block is positioned under my knees and i am pushed back on to a Shaped Head/Neck support and then Lined up exactly and quite firmly on the Bed , they ask if I am ready for the Mask and then Place it over my Face Head and Shoulders and Clip it firmly into place I am now Secure and my Top Half is fixed , my eyes and mouth are covered by the Mask and I breathe through the Opening over my Nose , Lydia asks if am o.k and ready for treatment , I give the thumbs up and they then all leave the Room but can observe me from their room.
The machine then boots up makes a few noises and then the Treatment starts , I cant see or feel anything but I can detect changes in the Light as the Machine moves around me Shooting its Rays at a Target on the Mask , Again I feel nothing and just stay as calm as possible and Control my breathing as best that I can .
And then the machine stops and the enter the room and Gently remove the Mask and Ask if I am o.k , the bed of the Machine is lowered and I am helped off and get dressed say thank you to the Team and leave the treatment room.
From there I head to the Transport Desk give them my paperwork and they book my Transport home , no Jade today , it was a Taxi that arrived and they call out my name and thats me off home .
It is right to say that the Christies is Big and Busy and I must say yesterday was a bit daunting going through the process for the first time but the Staff are lovely and have a sense of how be feeling on your first day , especially after all the Hassle I had , but they really are lovely and help you to relax.
So my lovely friends that is Day 2 of 30 done , more news tomorrow.
Thank you
Big hug Tom x glad you had a better day x Debbie W x

So glad for you that day 2 went smoothly. What an excellent description of the procedure. The radiographers are wonderful and caring and so gentle. Help make the process more bareable. It helps when you have the same team. Maybe we may bump into each other in the next few days. Take care x
ReplyDeleteHi Tom sorry I am late, the 5 hour difference doesn’t help, then someone drops by!. So pleased to hear things went a lot smoother than the first day, the people at Christie’s must love you, in todays world you’re a “jem”. Speak to you tomorrow… xxx
