28-11-23 DAY 7 , Treatment 7.

Good evening everyone , thanks for all the views and comments on yesterdays Blog , much appreciated .Todays much briefer .

Firstly no Transport issues to report which is great news , First taxi arrived bang on 1 pm and off we went

Arrived early at the Christies which was a Novelty to say the Least , straight down to suite 4 , and on the way I saw the All Clear Bell , I have walked past it every day ha ha , checked in and sad and waited for about 10 minutes when Rehanne  , said they were running a little late so to save time Later I could go and have my revue with the Doctor so off we paddle to another Room where straight away a Nurse calls out my name and she takes me over to some scales to check my weight , which turns out to be exactly the same as when I had it checked 4 weeks ago at North Manchester General , so Happy with that I am taken to a Treatment room where a Lady called Abbey introduces herself and she is the Head ,Neck, Throat Nurse who will be looking after me , and we a joined by one of the Team doctors whose name I  didnt  quite catch.

Abbey and the Doctor ask how I am doing and tell them about my Dry Throat overnight ( only 2 hours sleep ) and Loss of Taste which has happened , they say this is normal at about this Time of the Treatment but state over the next week it will get worse !!! AGAIN AS EXPECTED .

The Doctor tells me she is going to Prescribe , Liquid Paracetamol ( to be taken 1 hr be fore any food  is consumed ) Some kind of Mouth Spray to help with the Dryeness , and Another  Mouthwash to use . All these and whatever else she has prescribed I collect from the Pharmacy tomorrow. They inquired about what foods I was eating and are very happy with my Meal plan apart from wanting me to go on Blue Top Milk now .

From there back to Suite 4 and more or less straight in for Treatment still wearing my Hat and there is a New member of the team called Katie ,Hello , straight on to Ray  for my treatment and Music is always played during Treatment , now Masked up and as they are leaving Piano Man starts playing and I am tapping my Fingers and Katie laughs saying its Rehannes  play list and off they go , minutes later they are back and release me and off I go to wait for my transport home ,which wasnt long today.

Updates after making Sausage Mash and Veg for my Tea I can confirm that my taste buds have deserted  me for a while , hopefully to return next year sometime , I may struggle with my dry throat again tonight but will have medication tomorrow .

The Doctor and Abbey were very open saying it starts getting tougher now.

Thats it for tonight of to watch Footy now Bye

  10. Hi Tom, sorry for the late reply, but good to hear everything is going to plan, just a quick question for this foreigner….what’s blue top milk?, is it creamier or less cream?. The dry mouth and affected taste buds is a per our chat normal and to be expected, but getting worse sounds like you’ll need more support from us lot!. Because of the 5 hours difference, and on nights you cannot sleep, remember I am here if you need someone to chat with during the night. I usually go to bed around 11.30….or 4.30am your time, so available if you needed..πŸ™‚. Bloody hell half way through week 2 tomorrow, you’re burning through this Tom, and before you know it you’ll be ringing that Bell…..does it need a polish cause if it does that’s right up your street… thinking of my Gran and Grandads head stone!!😊. Speak again tomorrow, here’s hoping your ride is a good one, you’re probably on their list now…..NO F1 drivers for Tom…πŸ˜‰

So glad today went well for you and you received honest positive answers to your questions and that you have meds in place now to help you out (please don't try and be a hero and not use them!) They will aid your recovery as time goes on. Don't forget the other aids you already have and Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise 🀣🀣
Hope tomorrow runs as smoothly as today did, see you on the flip flop. xx

  13. Sorry to hear you have lost your sense of taste for now but glad you have got some medication from tomorrow. Hope this is just a tiny price to pay and is temporary for now. I guess there was going to be some form of side effect. Hope this will only be for a very short space of time whilst you are having your Radiotherapy treatment and you can ring that bell real soon. Take lots of care Tom. xx

  15. Tom, once your taste buds make an appearance again let’s do fish and jumbo sausage again, with salt & vinegar- that’ll test whether they’re working or not!
Keep smiling, keep shining, and get those meds down you to help. Lots of love x

  16. Well done on the blog Tom, you write very well, explaining everything as it happens. I am sorry your taste has deserted you, but you are stoic in the likelihood that it will get worse. You can beat this, and that bell you pass everyday will ring out for you!! We are all with you Tom, you are not alone in this, sending you loving vibes from Wiltshire, oh and let me know how you get on with the jigsaw, should only take a couple of minutes to complete it 🀣🀣😍🌞❤️ love you big man xxx
