29-11-23 Day 8 Treatment 8

Well hello and good evening from Thomas , once again thank you to all who have viewed the Blog and commented , I read every one.

So day 8 , halfway through the second week of Treatment and I feel I am doing O.K. And so do the Lovely Team looking after me .

No Issue with Transport today , I shared an Ambulance with a Lady from not far away from me who was also going to Christies , and Mark the Driver was the chap who picked me up on the first Monday , or failure day as I called it.

Arrived in Plenty of time today and straight to Dept 39 Suite 11 today because Ray was being serviced . Not many waiting so before too long I was called in by Rihanne of course getting a smile for wearing my hat. No messing today shirt off and straight on to the machine , all positioned up  and  Masked up and the girls Desert me again , Machine starts its clicking and whirring sound and passing over me a few times , my eyes are closed but you can pick up the changes in the Light , before too long its done and the team come in and rescue me. Up dressed and its a see you tomorrow  wave .

Now I navigate myself back to the Pharmacy where I left my order yesterday , they have a big screen in there so I can see that my stuff is ready to collect , so I go to collect window and receive my Bag of Goodies. A big bottle of Mouthwash , 2 bottles of Liquid Paracetamol , and some lovely Cream for my Neck ( where the treatment is aimed )

From there to Transport and check in and wait as usual with everyone else , not for long though today my name is called and its off to the Taxi and head for home.

Considering I was still on the machine at 3-15 pm and had to go to Pharmacy I am in the House for 4-45 pm . very nice

I have just watched Man Utd game on Telly , opened the Goody Bag and used the Mouthwash , cant taste it or smell it so thats maybe a good think , Paracetamol later before bed , the Meds will hope fully enable me to have a good kip and not keep  waking up with a very dry Mouth , which is also a side affect of the Radiotherapy damaging good as well Bad Cells , hope all will return when Treatment finishes , but obviously may take a while .But again all things that I had been briefed about before Treatment started .

So thats it for tonight Folks ,Tune in Tomorrow for more, night night

  4. Glad nice and smooth today! Are you OK with eating? I guess strange if you cannot taste. Could be eating anything then!! Live on rice and beans, save a packet, lose weight and think you are eating chocolate! Talking of chocolate..... x

  6. Sounds like you have this sorted Thomas, back to your Sunday name, not going to risk that smacked arse 😍. The routine sounds easy so long as the transport turns up on time, that gets you off to a good start. My appetite is never very good at the best of times, so I can empathise with you, eating

  8. Hi Tom, sounds like a good day all around, fingers crossed the meds help and you can get a good nights sleep, and many more. A “big” 1/4 way through now, and your still the same old Tom other than the dry mouth and a temporary loss of taste, a few good curries will go down well, although you might not know they are going in, you’ll know they are coming out….lol. Has the weather been holding out for you?, no white stuff yet?. 2 more visits this week and you’ll be 1/3 the way through, and holding up very well I’d say..πŸ‘πŸ™‚πŸ«Ά Speak again tomorrow, good night Tom..

  9. Hi Tom, Thanks for keeping us all up to date on how things are going. I just wanted to say that my hairdresser went through the same treatment as yourself over 14 years ago. At the time he took part in the trials for the mouthwash. He said for him it was great, as he didn't suffer any ulcers, whilst people who weren't on the trial did, so I'll let him know that the mouthwash is now offered to patients. Keep taking it one day at a time; sending you our love. Jackie & John x

  10. Well another one under the belt with no mishaps, we like a smooth day out with a meal at the end.......
But sorry it's not about you tonight, it's about your tea! (So far 36 emoji 20 comments) Firstly so sorry you couldn't taste or smell it but believe me it would have smelt and tasted the dogs........ But is it "Tator Ash" or "Tatar-ash", I suppose that's the difference between being brought up in Middleton appose to Oldham 🀣🀣 Now what would we add to it? A few people offered their suggestions,
Julie L, I agree you've got to have a stock cube or two, brown sauce or Worcester sauce can be a good alternative. Done in the slow cooker all day is my preferred method and you get that lovely aroma all day long (sorry Tom) 🀩
Helen T, Corn-beef ash! A Very acceptable alternative and I can safely safely say a bloody good meal prepped so lovingly by the ACC in the middle of some cold damp exercise areas around the world πŸ˜›πŸ˜›πŸ˜›
Stephen H, A man after my own heart.... Yes to the Red Cabbage and/or Beetroot just gives it that little kick πŸ‘πŸΎ (again sorry Tom)
But at the end of the day, it's each to their own and if you've enjoyed it that's all that matters. And as
Tony S so eloquently put "Whacking it in" keeps your mind and body working and don't forget my personal favourite a small Cob or French stick to mop up the gravy and clean the plate ((or mouldy bread if it's in a mess-tin on exerciseπŸ€”))

Sleep well my friend, I'm so looking forward to the Shepherds Pie (or is it Cottage Pie??) We will deal with that one tomorrow πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ’‹

  11. Another successful day, Tom!
We had your Lewis Hamilton's sister driving our bus into to Bath today.
It did make us giggle thinking of you with your eyes closed, as we held on for dear life racing down country lanes, on a bus diversion route.
    Hope today goes well xx
