End of Week 5 ,Friday 22-12-23 day 25 Treatment 25

Well good evening everyone and Be Gone week 5 , thanks to everyone who read yesterdays Blog and made comments , I do assure you that I read every single one and if someone has asked a question I reply by P M.

So its Friday and Prayer day and as expected Taxi 40 minutes late , although he did ring me and apologize so credit for that .Lots of traffic today so later arriving at Christies which will have the knock on effect , but it is what it is.

Straight to Dept 39 to check in , where sadly I have been moved due to workload to Suite 1 , a bit peeved because I had my Christmas Hat and jumper on as requested by the Team and wont be able to say merry Christmas to them 4 People ahead of me so a bit of a wait today .

So how surprised when Lydia from Suite 4  appeared to say Hello and gave me a Lovely Christmas Hug , I asked to pass my best wishes on to the rest of the Team , How  lovely of her to do that , most touching .

Eventually called in to Suite 1 , obviously not numbered for quality  Thank God I got Suite 4 from the start . Anyway in I go and am asked how I am and say o.k Shirt  off and on to the Machine Masked up for treatment no chat here ha ha , quickly done I wish them Merry Christmas and its Off to Transport to check in. Still a little busy its now 3 -15 so fear the worst , however  a Rainbow , My name called out at 3-45 pm so pretty good  , I say my farewells to the Transport team  and another Hug from Linda then its off into the traffic and Home .

Week 5 Conclusion .

Well last week seems a long time ago with my meltdown but I think it did me good to have and also Good to say I had it !! this journey hasnt all been Roses , its a tell all . Other than that its been a good one for me . Yesterdays discovery of the Shrinking Gland Lump ( which was like a small egg back in October , very scary time) and the Team telling me that the Treatment was shrinking it among other things was good .

Todays  development , from before I started treatment I was aware from reading and a friend telling me to keep Moisturizing  the Treatment area and I have been doing so Today Neck area  is sore looks like I have been in a Sun Lamp and the area where the Gland Lumps is Peeling slightly , All things I was aware were likely , and I now have 3 days rest from Radiotherapy to really get some Moisture in there , A Novel way to get a Tan ha ha .

So 5 days of Treatment Left 27 ,28, 29 , 30 th ( this one includes last Vampire visit ) and then the 2 nd Jan , last treatment at Suite 4 I hope  followed  by (The Bell ringing Ceremony )   Followed by last Clinical review  and Dietitian

So there you have it Bye Bye week 5 , Bring on week 6  ,

And i want to say a Massive BIG thank you to everyone who has helped me along on the Journey , Its been a struggle and very tough for me and I am sure My lovely Family and fantastic friends Supporting from distance   .Once Treatments stop I will try and use the Days again to get myself back , not been possible for 6 weeks constant  Treatment it really drains you and I considered myself fairly fit for an Old Git ( as Jacqui Clegg calls me ,affectionately ha ha ) Massive thanks love you all I love you to bits .

Night Night Love from Tom x

  10. Tom you have done amazingly well. You've kept going , being positive and with true British stiff upper lip lol. You should be very proud. As you say it's been harder than you thought and although you did your research you can only prepare so much but you're almost there treatment wise. Fantastic news re the lump starting to go down which I hope makes all the pain and discomfort worthwhile. Enjoy your few days off and relax so you're ready for the final push. Big hugs xx

  15. So here we are Tom end of week 5, day 6….I know this is a bit late but better late than never. Speaking of never…..I never doubted your strength and spirit to get through this, at your age it’s the body that struggles, no problem there for you Tom as you have looked after yourself and your body has looked after you these last 5 weeks… I cannot believe it when I just wrote 5 weeks, this means it’s almost 8 weeks since you and I discussed things and your journey. I’ll drop you a line over Christmas, hopefully you won’t be alone all over Christmas!. I know other people have talked about inspiration…well you have been an inspiration to me Tom, and I want to thank you for that….
Huge hugs, have a feet up weekend, perhaps some boring chocolates and sweeties - I say boring as I know you cannot taste much these days, but your body is thankful for keeping it going..😊. Merry Christmas Thomas…🫢🫢❤️πŸŽ„πŸŽ„

  18. Hey us Old Gits need love too lol (I'm 55 now so well into the 'Saga Holidays and Sun Life free Parker pen' demographic now ;-p On the moisturising front, I swear by Epaderm to keep my dry skin and eczema in check. It contains no perfume or SLS. It's light and easily absorbed and free from the nasties found in normal cosmetic or soap based products that would normally dry or irritate my sensitive skin (yes I am a sensitive little soul... just ask The Boss lol). Anyway, you can get Epaderm from Boots or online from Amazon. Hope this helps X

  20. Wow, end of Week 5 ! Just cannot believe iit. You have dealt with it like a true champ - sure it must have felt so incredibly dull back and forth every day but you never let that show on the blog. Just getting on with the task in hand, no complaining. Hope you manage some family and friend time over the Christmas break, just to give you that final push towards the finish line. Not that's it's finished but this part will be and you then have your time back to do other things. And that 'egg' will Be Gone cos we all that Tom Trumps Cancer! Havd a lovely lovely Christmas hon!! Xxx
