End of week 6 , Sat 30 th Dec , day 29 , Treatment 29 of 30 !!

Well good evening everyone  and thanks for reading the Blog and to those who commented , really appreciated thank you .

So its a Saturday and the Transport is bang on time so its off we go to Christies , arrive in plenty of time and go straight to to Dept 39 , suite 4 as usual , 2 people in front so time to read some more of the book .

Then Rhianne calls me in so off I go , say hello to the Team and as usual shirt off ,and now medical Collar off with help from  Colene ( yes I have had it wrong and  she never said so I  told her off for a change ha ha No chance !!

Collar off and Clingfilm applied and its on to Ray ,Mask on and Treatment ready to roll , nice music choice from Rhianne has me finger tapping ha ha , Job done I am cooked to a turn and released . Rhianne and Colene then supply a New Collar the one taken off was soiled so I get a new one fitted ( its easy with 3 Hands , not for 2 clumsy male ones. Rhianne also tells  me that I can apply the Flaminal on to the broken skin and it will sting , so I will do that after doing this Blog ,you may hear me Yelp ha ha , such a wimp.

With that I wish all The Team a Happy New Year , because it will be 2024 when I next see them on Tuesday , quite a way to start the New Year  what ?

Off to Transport and check in for Taxi home and only 10 minutes later I am on my way home so a nice early one today.

Week 6 Conclusion

A strange confusing week of days in and out , only real issue is the Blistering on my Neck , but the Collars are definitely helping and when I apply the ointment later that should help too apart from re fitting collar which is funny and annoying keeping it in Place while I apply the sticky tape which needs a few attempts ha ha . .And off course Ray breaking down on me , a little scary at the time wondering what was happening . And it was the last ( for now anyway ) of NHS Transport and Street cars , Bev Heath is Uber ? and photographer  for me on Tuesday .

So that is it my last Blog for 2023  , seems strange writing that ,its been quite a Journey ups and downs , Pain , Frustration and a few niggles . But  its 6 weeks done  and just one day to do and then Re Hab begins , I may do a Blog now and then to keep you updated but I think you deserve a Rest ha ha .

You all take care and have a Lovely Safe New Years break and I will see you on the Other side. And a Big Big thank you to everyone for your valued input  so much appreciated.

God Bless ,

Tom x

  2. Well one more to go you've come such a long way.
I'm sure the re hab will go well and the collar will do it's job.
You've done an incredible thing in keeping up a relatively normal routine(except your regular walks), but I'm sure they will return in 2024.
Again well done so proud of you.

It was good to hear that the collar is working and helping with the blistering……in the photo you posted you look a bit like Mrs Tishell on Doc Martin.πŸ™‚. So close now to the finishing line and the last treatment, you have been amazing Tom, and we have all learned from you during this journey. See you January 2, 2024 do you think there’s a chance of a photo of you ringing the end of treatment bell?..🫢❤️

A massive well done Thomas, just one more day and then bell ringing begins. Goodbye to 2023 and hello to 2024 and a successful rehab. When all we really want to do is give you a massive big hug and love you better. Sleep well tonight Thomas, have a good New Year and we will all see you on the other side in 2024! 20. Well Tom, I am writing this on “Goodbye to Ray Day”. None of us who are privileged to know you had any doubt that you would get through this part and totally smash it!! And repay the faith Mr Hughes had in you, as being a great candidate for this tough but great results choice of treatment!

As some of us go back to work today, after the long break, I’ll be thinking of Uber Driver Bev and Super Trooper Tom on the final day of treatment. Bet the team will miss you LOTS.

The road from here on is long and tough too, but Cancer can go do one. Nothing beats Slat! Soooo proud of the way you have coped!

Wonder if team ever have a list of volunteers who have been through the treatment and are willing to help share their experience and give a quick pep chat with those who are about to start their treatment perhaps?

Anyway, enjoy today and the satisfaction/relief of completing this. Saying goodbye to Ray. Thanking all those wonderful people. And ringing the bell ceremony!! We all look forward to seeing the pics and the footage later!!

    Big hugs xx

But I have definitely been reading it every day and keeping track. Literally smashing this and no piss-poor prep here. Good luck today with Uber Bev, sure everyone at Christine's will miss your gentle and friendly nature. Maybe more blog fans than you already have! Go get em Tom! So long Ray and keep on zapping! Xx
