Blog update Sunday 7-1-24
Good afternoon every one , when I started the Blog I said it was a Warts and All Blog , good and Bad..So hear is some bad stuff .
Since Tuesday the 2 nd Jan my condition deteriorated quite a Lot , Lots of Pain from Blistering on my neck and and feeling Nausea all the Time and lots of thick Phlegm sticking in my throat so I was wanting to be sick all the time , generally out of sorts no energy.
As a Result on Friday afternoon I decided to Call the Christie Hot Line Number as given to me just in case !! Sadly no answer on some phones and Mail Box or Answer phone on others , not very Hot at all , so I contacted my McMillan contact Jaqueline explaining situation she asked me to leave it with her , 1 hour Later she said she also had No luck but had left some messages , I thanked her for her help .
About 8 o clock my phone rang and it was a Dr Vickers who asked what the problems were and I explained them to him after a chat he said that he wanted me in the Christies at the Acute Assessment Care Unit Dept 22 , 4th Floor for tests , but I had to sort my Transport out ,Which I did .
Saturday Morning Patient Ambulance arrived at 8-15 am and took me to Christies and the Driver very kindly took me to the dept 22 , where they were on starters orders waiting for me a lovely Nurse Ella took me to a Ward and said she would be tests and Checking my Neck out . After they did the Usual health checks which were all good she said that they were going to put me on a Series Drips to Build my Body back up 5 different drips later , 1 of them 4 hours long , I was feeling better than I had done , and Ella and her Boss took my Collar of to look at my Neck and it was a Mess , they said they would have to clean the wounds with Little Pads soaked in water and it would hurt , They were Right IT DID , Then its discovered that the Ointment I had been give was wrong ,AGAIN , The wounds I have are Wet Wounds and the Ointment was for Dry Wounds which is why the wounds were a mess , I now have the correct Ointment for my wounds !! ( hopefully)
The wounds were cleaned and dried and new Ointment Applied , felt much better and a new Collar fitted by Ella, My last Drip finished Canular taken out and I was released but have to go Back on Wednesday to be checked out again , another load of Meds given to me to use when required .
Down to Transport booked my wheels for 9 am Appt on Wednesday so another early start and see what happens
Conclusion , I was suffering and in a lot of pain and it took me a while to get help , but the help was good. They have been very Frank saying the Radiotherapy will be working for at least another 2 weeks and prepare for a tough time !!
So thats it for now ,more when it happens
Thank you Tom x
The recovery process can be tougher than the treatment you did the right thing got back in touch with them and now the journey continues to full recovery keep going and remember we are all still behind you ❤️👍
ReplyDeleteOh Tom you are really being put through the mill. Hopefully when the radiotherapy is out of your system things will start to improve.
ReplyDeleteI should not be surrounded by boxes by then, so you are welcome to come here for a few days.
Love and hugs
Dee xx
Sounds a horrendous experience Tom but it seems now that you are back on track. Thoughts are with you all the way to recovery.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you have the correct ointment now! That sounds awful. Definitely the recovery process can be harder than the treatment. Thanks for your knee support by the way x
ReplyDeleteHi Tom, dear oh dear oh dear! Wrong medication again, no wonder you've felt poorly, the road to recovery can be the worse thing to go through, but again you got the help you needed quickly, well done. Very happy to hear the drip whatever it was made you feel better, and picked you up, so Wednesday you go again, put it on blog how you go on. Much love to you, and a big hug, hang in there big brother xxx ♥️
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear you have been suffering but glad you have the right treatment now. Hopefully that will stop things worsening even tho radiotherapy still working. Take care Tom. Thinking of you. Janet xx
ReplyDeleteOh Tom 😢 that’s such a shame that you’ve had unnecessary suffering with your wounds but it sounds like you’re on the right track now.
ReplyDeleteThe wonders of a drip with its magic liquids - rehydrate you properly and fill you full of good stuff.
I hope you’re managing to rest despite your nausea and sun in the neck (you’ve always been one of those 😜)
Love you big man xx
From Rach 🙈
DeleteAwww so sorry to hear this .. you have gone through enough it’s not fair that you now have problems on top of it all . Love and hugs coming your way xxx
ReplyDeleteSo glad you reached out for help, hopefully the drips and change of cream will continue to do the job. Here's hoping you have better luck from here-on-in. Hopefully the Shepherds pie did the same job as the drips. xxx
ReplyDeleteAww Tom so sorry to hear you have had a terrible time. 😞 glad you reached out for the much needed help you needed at that awful time. I hope and bless that all your medication is correct and your journey isnt as terrible and painful from here on in. Love you Tom. Hope to catch up and have a chat when you are feeling much better and up to a chat. 🥰❤️
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that isn't good at all. Hopefully, now they have got you on the correct journey to recovery, if they haven't, I'll be sending "J.M. from the Square" to sort them out! Sending lots of hugs Tom, take care Lisa xx
ReplyDeleteGoodness - what an account! You’ve been through a TOUGH time!! So glad you reached out to MacMillan and they were able to sort out a Doctor to call you! And get you in to be seen, and put on those drips and the proper medication for your neck!!Here’s hoping that this helps it heal.
ReplyDeletePs ignore my messages earlier - only just read your blog, as another friend alerted me. (Trying to stay off FB at mo).
Sending hugs for the tough couple of weeks ahead to come - as that radiotherapy continues to give you the side effects. Xx
So sorry to hear you havnt been feeling too good in yourself and wrong cream was supplied to you. Glad you sought further assessment off the hospital put on further further medication. Hope you will feel some relief now and start to feel much better. x
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear this Tom but at least they seem to have a solution for your problems which is good. The healing process over the next couple of weeks doesn't sound like much fun, we are all behind you wishing we could take the pain away. It's okay to scream and shout when you want/need to but please ask for help as soon as you need it. Sending love and healing xx Angie
ReplyDeleteSorry you've had a such a terrible time Tom with the wrong lotion, surely they should know what is needed but glad you're sorted now. Well done persevering Tom and also to that macmillan nurse being persistent as well. I wondered why you'd gone a bit quiet and was thinking you're resting and catching your breath after all the emotions of the final week. Just keep going, definitely a day at a time at the moment. Keep pushing through Tom your strength will carry you through these next few weeks.. sending hugs xxx
ReplyDeleteWow Tom, words fail me! Heart felt commiserations. Like you’ve not gone through enough. Please use your oramorph it’s pain relief, it doesn’t knock you out for good; and if it helps you relax so what. Psychology you e been through so much you need to rest, I appreciate that’s difficult for a strong person like yourself but you need to be kind to yourself also.
ReplyDeleteI’m grateful for your blogs( stops me mithering you) lol, and your honesty is commendable xx julie
Keep going Tom, you're doing everything right, as soon as you have a problem report it. New Year New Tom

ReplyDeleteOh my poor Thomas, I was hoping that no news was good news. How wrong can I be. I am so sorry you have had such a miserable time, but really glad you got in touch with the hospital. I know the staff are very good, but I do wish they could get the details right more often. How awful for you with what sounds like raw wounds on your neck, you have the wrong ointment!! But I am so relived to hear you have got the right stuff now. And those drips sound really good whatever was in them! I am here for you Thomas, I know I am miles away but of you need to talk you have my number. I feel so useless, I want to give you a big hug. It sounds like the next two weeks are going to be more of the same, so although it sounds harsh, grit your teeth and look towards 1 month from now!! I know the recuperation is harder than the treatment, I think you need more of those drip thingys. We are all still with you big man, lots of loving vibes heading your way from Rich and me. Love you always. xxxx
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear of the troubles you have had glad you got in touch and had help. I wish only good things for you Tom I have read all the messages and can't add to that other than I am thinking of you. Stay strong Tom love Tanja xx
