 Good evening from Ice Station Blackley , thank you all those who read and commented on  Yesterdays Blog , some interesting and quite Long Posts which gave me a Chuckle.  So lets begin Transport arrives and again whisked away  to Christies and arrive in Good time so its straight to Dept 39 and Suite 11 again (  Ray still having a service ) called in by the Lovely Colleen and her Irish tone , So in I go , but today not straight forward  for the first time . I need the Teams assistance. If you remember in Yesterdays Blog I mention collecting a Number of Meds , 1 of which was a Moisturizing  Cream  so I needed to know when and how often to apply and to which areas ? well answered by the Team once in the morning before Treatment the second in the evening after. No Problem. Next was a Liquid Paracetamol solution , when when I opened the box  had an Applicator ,a bit like a Syringe , the Idea being that you draw the Medicine in to the required dose...

 Well hello and good evening from Thomas , once again thank you to all who have viewed the Blog and commented , I read every one.  So day 8 , halfway through the second week of Treatment and I feel I am doing O.K. And so do the Lovely Team looking after me . No Issue with Transport today , I shared an Ambulance with a Lady from not far away from me who was also going to Christies , and Mark the Driver was the chap who picked me up on the first Monday , or failure day as I called it. Arrived in Plenty of time today and straight to Dept 39 Suite 11 today because Ray was being serviced . Not many waiting so before too long I was called in by Rihanne of course getting a smile for wearing my hat. No messing today shirt off and straight on to the machine , all positioned up  and  Masked up and the girls Desert me again , Machine starts its clicking and whirring sound and passing over me a few times , my eyes are closed but you can pick up the changes in the Light , before ...

Firstly no Transport issues to report which is great news , First taxi arrived bang on 1 pm and off we went  Arrived early at the Christies which was a Novelty to say the Least , straight down to suite 4 , and on the way I saw the All Clear Bell , I have walked past it every day ha ha , checked in and sad and waited for about 10 minutes when Rehanne  , said they were running a little late so to save time Later I could go and have my revue with the Doctor so off we paddle to another Room where straight away a Nurse calls out my name and she takes me over to some scales to check my weight , which turns out to be exactly the same as when I had it checked 4 weeks ago at North Manchester General , so Happy with that I am taken to a Treatment room where a Lady called Abbey introduces herself and she is the Head ,Neck, Throat Nurse who will be looking after...

 Good evening everyone , Firstly once again a big thank you to all those who have read my Blog and commented , Its great to read the comments from people all over the place which has made my decision to do it all worthwhile and the comments will be there forever and I can look back on them in  months to come and see how my journey went. So here we are on week 2 of 6 , first thing to Report that Transport all worked well today  and  that I handed in my Transport Complaint Form at the Transport desk , They read it and said that it would be sent to the Main Transport Hub for them to Action , and also thanked me for doing it , because if no one complains and brings  it to their attention they will never know .  Hello and Happy Friday to everyone and once again thank you for reading the Crap I write and making your comments , much appreciated , I had hoped this would be short , but it wont be. So my appointments at the Christie after Mondays Farce  are all at 14 05 hrs and I need to be ready up to 2 hours before that for Collection which isnt a Problem for me , so today at 13-13 hrs I am just about ring Transport Office  when I get a phone "outside now please" so lock door and out I go  , No Taxi outside ? , so I wait a few moments then ring back on the Number that had Rung me , and its Street Cars , I say I am Outside my Home where  is the Taxi ,? we havent rung you they say , So how come I have rung you back on the Number that rang me ? We have no Taxis in that Area they say ? Well you should because you should picked me up ages ago for 2 pm Appointment at Christies so where is my Transport ? we will get one to you straight away they say ,But why hasnt been earlier I...

 Good evening everyone , thanks very much for those who have had a read of Yesterdays  Blog and Commented , love some of the comments , amazing what a bunch of weirdos I have as Friends , such funny comments and thats what I wanted it to be. So Day 4 of 30 , went very smoothly I must say so not a very long Blog tonight ,Yippee I hear you say , Taxi arrived Just before 1 pm  , nice and early little did I know the driver was a mix of Lewis Hamilton and the Stig !!, Bloody hell he was Rapid I can only remember a few Parts of the Route I am an awful Back seater , so I just closed my eyes ha ha , and we arrived bang on 1-30 pm so that is some going , even I would have been proud of that , I thanked him as I collected my sick bag off the floor , it wasnt used I just wanted a Souvenir !! As I walked to the main entrance   there was a lot of people cheering and  Hugging I can only assume that this was someone who got the All Clear and rang the Bell , lovely to see ...

So far I have had 6 Different Drivers of Different Nationalities and I have never yet been taken or brought back the same way twice , even though they use Sat Nav , funny . So today I arrive at Christies in plenty of time , make my way to Department 39 , I know the way now !! and check in and go to the waiting outside  Room 4 ,my Treatment room .  Well good evening everyone  , and can I first say a Big Thank You to those of you who read Yesterdays Blog and Commented , much appreciated . Todays Blog wont be as long , simply because everything went smoothly which was nice . Just after 1 pm I received a phone call from a Taxi saying he was on his way to collect me and take me to Christies , good news ,Thomas can relax now , off we go and an uneventful Drive to Christies , dropped off and managed to Navigate myself  to Department 39 , Suite 4 , my treatment location for the next 6 weeks , check in with Naomi at the Reception desk and go to sit in the the waiting room . After about 20 minutes I am called into the Treatment room , and its the same team as yesterday , Team Leader Lydia , trainee Whitney , Colleen and Hannah  are the names  I have got so far there a couple of others and 1 Achilles  , I think we are getting a bit of a Bond already and they are all lovely people.  So after weeks of waiting D Day finally arrives , Due to a very early start i had an early night in bed , slep like a log no problem at all , up at 5 am , shower breakfast and ready for being collected by the pre booked NHS Transport ,( which i had confirmed on the 15 th Nov ) . And I waited , and Waited and because I was due to be at Christies having Bloods taken at 8 am and Radiotherapy at 8-20 , and at 7-45 am I am still sat on my Couch at Home , I started to get Stressed , after being very Calm , so i decide to ring NHS Transport , stupid idea Thomas , they dont start until 8am !!!!!, so thats a Fail , Ha I know , my list of Appointments has 2 contact numbers for the Radiotherapy Dept , sorted ?? , no thats far to easy isnt it , because they are Old numbers no longer in use ???? very handy , not !!! Good afternoon everybody. As you know I have recently been diagnosed with a throat cancer.  After some whizzy, whizz visits to various hospitals, surgeons, oncologists and specialists, the way forward to beat the cancer has been charted.  On the 20th November 2023, I start a 6 weeks intensive daily course of radiotherapy at the Christie Hospital in Manchester.   I know this is going to be a difficult and tough journey and the idea of this blog is to keep all my family and friends updated, especially during the shitty times that are bound to come. I appreciate all the lovely comments and messages that I have received and it makes me feel so much better to know that the love and support is out there. I will attempt to update this blog daily as to my condition, both as a personal diary and permanent record of my journey.
